The declaration said that the challenges posed by the current unjust international economic order have had a serious impact on developing countries. The international financial architecture urgently needs to be reformed, and developing countries should strengthen solidarity and cooperation to enhance their representation in global decision-making bodies. The declaration points out that all parties concerned should strive to achieve global development and win-win cooperation on the basis of consultation, joint construction and sharing, and promote the building of a community with a shared future for mankind.
Focusing on the theme of this summit, "Current Development Challenges: The Role of Science, Technology and Innovation", the declaration pointed out that science and technology and innovation are of great significance to promoting the sustainable development of developing countries, and it is necessary to strengthen North-South cooperation and South-South cooperation, improve the access to science and technology and the ability of developing science and technology in developing countries, and establish an open, fair, inclusive and non-discriminatory environment for science and technology development. The declaration designated 16 September as Science, Technology and Innovation Day for the Countries of the South.
The Declaration opposes the imposition of unilateral sanctions against developing countries. During the general debate of the summit, participants from many countries urged the United States to end its illegal sanctions against Cuba, Venezuela and other countries, and called on developing countries to unite for development rights.
In addition, the summit adopted a separate statement agreeing to Mexico's readmission to the "Group of 77 and China" mechanism.

Cuban Foreign Minister Bruno Rodríguez publicly said on the same day that Cuba was elected as the rotating chair of the organization for the first time, which is a "great responsibility" and "supreme honor".
On the afternoon of August 23 this year, President Xi Jinping met with Cuban President Díaz-Canel during the BRICS Summit in Johannesburg. Cai Qi, Wang Yi, and others attended the meeting.
Xi Jinping stressed that the "Group of 77 and China" is an important cooperation platform for developing countries. Cuba, as Chair of the Group of 77 and China this year, has made a positive contribution to strengthening solidarity among developing countries. China attaches great importance to and supports Cuba's successful hosting of the G-77-China summit next month, and is willing to work with Cuba and other G-77 members to better safeguard the common interests and development rights of developing countries.

Xinhua News Agency on September 12 news, at the invitation of Cuban President Diaz-Canel, the 2023 presidency of the Group of 77, President Xi Jinping's special representative, Li Xi, member of the Standing Committee of the Political Bureau of the CPC Central Committee and secretary of the Central Commission for Discipline Inspection, will attend the "Group of 77 and China" summit in Havana from September 14 to 16.

Li Xi said at the "Group of 77 and China" summit that the world today is experiencing major changes unprecedented in a century, the strength of developing countries is growing, and South-South cooperation plays an increasingly important role in maintaining the momentum of the collective rise of developing countries and promoting the stable growth of the world economy.
At the same time, unilateralism and hegemonism are still rampant, especially the unilateral sanctions and decoupling and breaking of chains by certain countries, which seriously damage the legitimate development rights and interests and space of developing countries.
Li Xi pointed out that China is willing to work with Cuba and other members of the Group of 77 to build a global community with a shared future in the South and create a new era of common development.
"Always a member of the countries of the Global South"
The "Global South" mentioned by Li Xi is an important concept.
Zhengzhijun noted that President Xi Jinping said in his speech to the closing ceremony of the BRICS Business Forum in Johannesburg on August 22 that as a developing country and a member of the "Global South", China has always shared the same fate with other developing countries, firmly safeguarded the common interests of developing countries, and promoted the increase of the representation and voice of emerging market countries and developing countries in global affairs.
In addition, on August 24, Xi Jinping announced at the BRICS Dialogue with African countries and other emerging market and developing countries that China has established a global development and South-South cooperation fund with a total of US$4 billion, and Chinese financial institutions will soon launch US$10 billion in special funds specifically for the implementation of global development initiatives.
The "Global South" is derived from the "countries of the South" and is a collection of emerging market countries and developing countries. It is generally accepted that the "Global South" usually refers to regions such as Latin America, Asia and Africa, and is named because it is mostly located in the southern hemisphere in geographical scope.
China.com wrote in July that since last year, the United States and Western countries have politicized and instrumentalized the concept of the "Global South", deliberately excluded China and other countries, divided and disintegrated the "Global South", and engaged in camp confrontation in the "Global South".
In this regard, China firmly upholds its position as the "Global South" and resolutely safeguards the interests of the vast number of "Global South" countries.
Wang Yi spoke at the first high-level meeting of the Global Shared Development Action Forum
On July 10 this year, Wang Yi, member of the Political Bureau of the CPC Central Committee and director of the Foreign Affairs Office of the CPC Central Committee, said at the first high-level meeting of the Global Shared Development Action Forum that China is the world's largest developing country and an ex officio member of the global southern camp.
On July 25, when attending the BRICS High Representative for National Security Affairs meeting in Johannesburg, Wang Yi said that the countries of the "Global South" face the important mission of resisting the infiltration of external interference and safeguarding political security and regime security.
"We must maintain strategic concentration and self-confidence, unswervingly follow our own path, support each other on issues involving each other's core interests and major concerns, and take concrete actions to counter all noise that provokes BRICS unity and smears BRICS cooperation."
At the "Group of 77 and China" summit held on September 15, Li Xi pointed out that China is the largest developing country in the world. No matter how far China develops, it will always be a member of the family of developing countries and a member of the countries of the Global South. China has always regarded South-South cooperation as a priority direction for foreign cooperation.
At the same time, Li Xi said that China is willing to communicate and coordinate closely with members of the Group of 77, optimize the input of development resources, give full play to the maximum efficiency of public goods such as the "Belt and Road" initiative, and solve development problems.
"Speak out and uphold justice"
"China and the vast number of developing countries have gone through the arduous process of striving for national independence and liberation, and both have a strong desire to let the people live a better life, and have always breathed the same breath, shared a common destiny, supported each other, and developed together, and have long become a community of common destiny."
Li Xi said at the "Group of 77 and China" summit that as long as we follow the trend of the times, strengthen unity, friendship and cooperation, and support each other to take the path of modernization in line with our national conditions and characteristics, we will certainly be able to better safeguard the common interests of developing countries, enhance our due voice in the global governance system, achieve common development and common prosperity, and inject more stability and positive energy into the cause of global peace and development.
Li Xi put forward three suggestions on cooperation between the Group of 77 and China:
First, adhere to the original intention of independence and self-improvement, resolutely oppose bloc confrontation and the Cold War mentality, persist in resolving differences and disputes between countries by peaceful means, and jointly safeguard world peace and tranquility;
The second is to carry forward the spirit of fairness, justice, equality and inclusiveness, actively speak out and uphold justice in important international forums such as the General Assembly, promote the development interests of developing countries in the various agendas of the United Nations, urge developed countries to earnestly implement their development assistance commitments, and expand the voice and representation of developing countries;
The third is to fulfill the mission of development revitalization and win-win cooperation, work together to revitalize the global development partnership, cultivate new momentum for the development of all countries, cooperate on food security, poverty reduction, industrialization, green development, digital science and technology, artificial intelligence, etc., build an open, inclusive, mutually beneficial South-South science and technology cooperation system, promote equal access to digital dividends by all countries, and ensure that developing countries are not left behind or lacking in the development of new technologies and industries.
